How to get to us

There are plenty of ways to reach us, either by car, ferry or plane.
Here are some helpful tips and information but please just ask us if you’d like to help you personally.

By car

Traveling by car naturally offers a lot of advantages and makes you more flexible once you’re there.

via France
If you’re coming from the North and East of Germany, you’d best take the motorway via Karlsruhe-Saarbrücken-Metz-Nancy-Dijon. You’ll reach the A6 (motorway Paris-Lyon) south of Dijon at Beaune and this leads on to the A7 and A8 into the heart of the Provence and to the French Riviera where the ferries leave.

via Switzerland
If you’re coming from the North and West of Germany, Switzerland and Western Austria, you’d best use the Swiss motorway network to get to Basel or Zurich and from there via Milan through the Gotthard Tunnel to Genoa/Savona, Civitavecchia or Livorno and onto the ferry.

via Italy
Those traveling from Austria, Eastern Germany or Bavaria can alternatively drive via the Brenner to Bolzano or from Vienna via Venice to Verona, Parma respectively Bologna or Florence and take the ferry from the above-mentioned ferry terminals.

It’s a good idea to get detailed information on the traffic regulations of the countries you’ll be passing through. For example, it’s necessary to carry reflecting safety vests and a breathalyzer test with you in France.

By ferry

Diverse ferry lines offer crossings to Corsica.

Depending on where you’re traveling from, you can aim for ports on the French and Italian mainland or cross over from Sardinia (also see travel by plane). To name a few examples:

  • I-Livorno - Bastia
  • I-Genua - Calvi
  • I-Civitavecchia - Porto Vecchio
  • F-Nizza - Ajaccio
  • F-Marseille - Porto Vecchio
  • F-Toulon - Bastia
  • Santa Teresa Gallura (Sardinia)

The different ferry crossings can be easily found on Google Maps (see below).

It is very important to make a reservation for ferry crossings during the high season as the ferries are nearly always booked out. Our tip is to book the ferry in good time from home and benefit from the special offers.

By air:

Various airlines fly directly to one of the four airports on the island.

  • Figari - South (ca. 20km)
  • Ajaccio – South-West (ca. 140km)
  • Bastia – North (ca. 150km)
  • Calvi – North-West (ca. 200km)

Either rent a car or take a bus from there. Nearly all renowned car rental companies are represented in Corsica. It’s recommendable to rent in advance. Most places can be reached by public bus but there are usually only one or two buses a day, except in the case of the connections between the larger towns. So bus trips have to be carefully planned. There is also the alternative to fly to the airport Olbia Costa Smeralda on the neighbouring Italian island Sardinia which is regularly served by the low-cost airlines. From there you can take the ferry.

Numerous internet sites have already listed the best itineraries and make it easier for you to make a choice and to book.
